Moving towards your Center: Pilates and Asymmetries
DESCRIPTION:
Though we are trained to teach people that can move readily, we have many clients that have unique movement challenges. These challenges can be related to asymmetries in their structure and movement strategies. Exploring these asymmetries can give us insight into developing more efficient movement strategies. In this workshop, Blossom demonstrates how Pilates can be used as a lens to observe unique movements and create client-specific exercises for those with unique challenges. This workshop will highlight exercises that can be performed without equipment and those that require just a simple prop.

Making Pilates More Three-Dimensional
DESCRIPTION:
Often times, we are used to viewing and cueing the body in motion in one plane of movement - the sagittal plane. The ability to view a client’s movement in three dimensions can reveal previously disguised movement tendencies and spark ideas for new exercises or cues — making your teaching more potent. In this workshop, Blossom demonstrates how understanding multi-planar movement, and observing the body in three dimensions can result in more potent execution of exercises in the Pilates repertoire. We will use simple props like a yoga block, Theraband, and a small ball (the size of a fist and slightly squishy).
